Symbolism and Spiritual Arts of the Northwest Coast: A Contemporary Exhibition

"Transformation"

"Transformation" by Susan Point, O.C., DFA., RCA., D.Litt – First Nations Northwest Coast, Coast Salish Art presented by DaVic Gallery of Native Canadian Arts

This contemporary Salish art is designed by Susan Point, a descendant of Musqueam people. Her style intends to give the feel of its bursts of complete life; that all life comes from water, fluid, flowing. The artistic spindle whorl represents the circle of life, and that all is somehow connected. This simplistic art illustrates the flow of energy as a caterpillar transform into a butterfly, bursting flaming-like; ; interconnectedness and transformation again being the common themes.
